By Dr. Adele Zorn

The Nevada Opera Theatre Board of Directors presented a lovely Autumn Soiree at the exquisite Art de Vignettes Too Galleries.Host and Hostess for the event were Bruce and Barbara Lee Woollen.

Chairpersons were Rita DeSimone and NV Opera Theatre founder, Eileen Hayes. As this event was on 9/11 the invitation was a painting by artist, Jim Stallings called “The Music Lives On.” “The Music Lives on” is a poignant interpretation of the September 11th events showing goodness and love will prevail and that the human spirit is eternally boundless.

The event started with a Champagne and wine reception with passed delicious hors d’oeuvres served by elegant waiters.A silent auction and a tour of the Art de Vignette Galleries was on the program at that time.

Afterwards guest were seated and Introductions were made by Denny Weddle, President of the NV Opera, Chairpersons Rita DeSimone, Eileen Hayes and Committee Chairpersons, Rosita Kanes, Karen Scherer and Len Silberman.

A brilliant concert by Nevada Opera Theatre artists was next enjoyed by the audience. Frank Fetta conducted and performances were by:

Shelby Claire Bowling, Dr. Morton I. Hyson, Eric Castro, Angela Taverner and Alyssa Van Camp.

The artists performed as soloists, in duets and as a chorus. Each artist received a standing ovation as their performances were spectacular. A lovely young 11 year old piano virtuoso performed too and amazed the audience with her exceptional talent.

Tasty delectables at a buffet table and libations at a bar were available after the performances. Eileen Hayes presented a special gift to host and hostess Bruce and Barbara Woollen.
