Best known for his loveable sitcom personas, Tony Danza is indisputably one of America's most popular performers and every mother's ideal son. Having starred on some of television's most beloved and long-running series, Tony has also established himself as a veritable stage and screen star, as well as a respected producer.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Tony received a wrestling scholarship. Following college, he was discovered at a boxing gym in New York. The discovery led producer James Brooks to cast Danza in the critically acclaimed series Taxi, earning him a place in television history. Following his five-year run on Taxi, Tony starred for a consecutive eight years in the ABC comedy series, Who's the Boss? On the small screen, Tony's credits include a critically applauded performance in l2 Angry Men. More recently Tony starred as attorney Joe Celano in the CBS dramatic series, Family Law. He received an Emmy Nomination for his portrayal of a shrewd, charismatic and street-smart attorney who fashioned himself a "man of the people."
On stage Tony received critical acclaim for his portrayal of "Rocky" the Bartender in the Broadway revival of Eugene O'Neills The Iceman Cometh opposite Kevin Spacey.
Tony also created, directed and starred in the short film inspired by personal events entitled, Mama Mia. He also earned an Outer Critics Circle Award Nomination for his theatrical debut in Wrong Turn at Lungfish.
Realizing a dream, Tony released last October his debut album entitled, The House I Live In. Riding the success and critical praise of his re-recording of Frank Sinatra's famed song of the same name, Tony's CD features many of the classics he grew up with.
