Roseanne Cherrie Barr (born Nov. 3, 1952) is an Emmy Award-winning Comedian, Actress, and Writer known for her successful sitcom "Roseanne". Her hilarious stand-up comedy show dates as far back as the early 80's with her unglamorized portrayal of the typical American working-class housewife in which she refers to as a "Domestic Goddess". As one of the most notable names in the comedic industry, Barr holds honors as one of the highest ranked comics, landing at #9 on Comedy Central's list of 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time.

Following a move to Los Angeles in 1983 to pursue stand-up comedy, Barr was extremely successful, landing her first television appearance on the Johnny Carson Show in 1985. Little did she know that, more than 20 years later, fate would bring her to the Sahara's Congo Room, where Carson himself performed. A few years later, Barr began taping her namesake show, which launched her to household fame. The series ran for nine seasons, picking up four Emmys, two Golden Globes, six People's Choice Awards, and many other accolades.

The show propelled her career and soon Barr branched out to show the world that her talent extended beyond television comedy. Releasing two best-selling books, "Roseanne: My Life as a Woman" and "My Lives", established Barr as an author; a run as the Wicked Witch of the West in a production of The Wizard of Oz showed Barr could handle the theatre-side of the industry, The Roseanne Show proved she had the power to connect with audiences in a talk show-style setting; and, Barr has now extended herself into children's books and DVDs.
