Kelly Rowland is an American R&B singer, songwriter, dancer and occasional actress, who rose to fame as one of the founding members of the successful R&B group Destiny's Child, the world's best-selling female group of all time, selling over 100 million records worldwide and earning two Grammy Awards in the Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group.

Kelly who was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1981, relocated to Houston with her family. It was here that she became very close to cousin Beyonce Knowles, an equally talented singer. When Kelly was old enough to start auditioning, she teamed up with Beyonce, La Tavia Robertson and LeToya Luckett. Beyonce's father groomed the quartet and encouraged them to work on their style. Following a performance on Star Search in 1992, Destiny's Child was born.

In 1997, the girls made an impressive debut with their first single No, No, No. Two albums followed, The Writing's on the Wall which featured two #1 hits, Bill, Bills, Bills and Say My Name. Say My Name won two awards at the 2001 Grammy Awards for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, and best R&B Song.

Their next album Survivor, proved to be another smash, going to #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, as well as the Canadian Albums chart. Two singles from the album, Independent Women Part I and Bootylicious went to the top of the Hot 100.

By 2006, Destiny's Child had wrapped the group's Destiny Fulfilled farewell tour and Kelly Rowland, who'd successfully, debuted as a solo artist in 2002 with a global smash album, Simply Deep, and a chart-topping Grammy-winning hit single, Dilemma, decided to record her second solo album, a collection of new songs.

The result was Ms. Kelly, featuring production from some of the most innovative names in the game, including Polow Da Don, Sean Garrett, Tank and Scott Storch. Ms. Kelly is 100% Kelly Rowland 2007: sexy, honest, playful, and passionate. "I really put my heart and soul into this record." You can hear it on her jump-off single, Like This, which is hip-shaking, bass-blessed and hot-wired with a sassy vibe that sends a clear message to the fellas: don't mess with Ms. Kelly.

While maintaining a recording career, Kelly has also gained fame for starring in several film and television productions, including a starring role in the 2004 romantic-comedy, The Seat Filler, a supporting role in the 2003 slasher film Freddy vs. Jason, and several guest appearances on television series such as The Hughleys, and American Dreams.
