Wayne Brady was born in Orlando, Florida in 1972 and graduated from high school at the age of 16. In high school, Wayne had planned on a career in the military. But a chance performance in High School Theater changed his mind. His first job was as an entertainer playing Tigger at Walt Disney World. Soon he was heavily involved in the Florida theater community, performing in numerous stage productions such as A Chorus Line, A Raisin in the Sun, Jesus Christ Superstar, and I'm Not Rappaport.

He then started performing at a comedy club in Florida called SAK Comedy Lab. In the early 1990's he married Diane Lasso - a marriage that lasted only two year. Afterward, he moved to Las Vegas and eventually to Los Angeles as he developed his acting skills. In 1999, Brady married Mandie Taketa and the couple had a child, Maile, together in 2003. However, they split in 2006.

Brady joined Drew Carey, Ryan Stiles, and Colin Mochrie for a remake of the comedy series Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Brady's singing, acting and impressions amazed viewers. In 2003, Brady won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety, Musical, or Comedy Series for his work on the show. His work on Whose Line led him to ABC for his own variety show in 2001, but it failed; so he was given a daytime talk show in 2002. The talk show lasted two seasons and garnered four Daytime Emmy awards, two of which were for Outstanding Talk Show Host.

In 2004, Brady joined the Broadway revival of Chicago, playing lawyer Billy Flynn. He has also guest-starred in Reno 911!, Stargate SG-1, Dirt, Wild 'N Out, Robot Chicken, and Getting Along Famously with Whose Line alum, Mochrie. Brady has also appeared on network television series How I Met Your Mother, Everybody Hates Chris, and 30 Rock. Wayne Brady has hosted several television programs including That's What I'm Talking About, Celebrity Duets, and Vinyl Justice. He currently hosts a singing game show called Don't Forget the Lyrics.

As a singer/songwriter, Brady wrote and sang the theme song for Disney's The Weekenders; he also recorded Jim Brickman's original Disney song Beautiful as well as the Christmas version. Brady also continues to tour the country with his own improve comedy shows along with song and dance tributes. He can be seen regularly at the Venetian in Las Vegas.
