Tropical Passions is a variety show that features Latin music and dance from the "Roaring '50s." It includes the Grammy-award nominated 22 piece Tropicana All-Stars Orchestra. The cast of 30 dancers and other entertainers perform a spectacular show of mambo, blues, rumba and even rock & roll. The also include classic rhythms from the golden age of Cuban music including tributes to famed bandleader Benny Moré and other great artists like Nat King Cole, Peggy Lee, and Elvis Presley.
This is the show you've heard about! The orchestra of mostly Latin musicians duplicates Banda Gigante (the big band made famous by Benny Moré, known as "El Barbaro del Ritmo" in the 1950s). Their repertoire includes favorites such as Amore Fugaz, Santa Isabel de las Lajas, Bonito y Sabroso, El Bodeguero by Nat King Cole, Viva Las Vegas by Elvis Presley, and many more.
Israel Kantor is featured singer in Tropical Passions and is joined by John C. Halbour as M.C. and singer, with Jesse Garon and Ivette DuMonde also as singers. Jesus Sanfield, master choreographer and Recaredo Gutierrez, the producer, are the creative talents behind this extravaganza.
Tropical Passions show times are 7 p.m. nightly except Tuesdays, with an additional late show at 9:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays in the Sahara Theater.
