We have just recently returned from our summer holiday which included a visit to Las Vegas. We stayed at the Excalibur the first two days. We and our daughters, ages 3 and 6, really liked the pool, the court jester stage, the buffet, the arcade, and the room. The staff was friendly and accommodating and there were lots of strolling characters in medieval costume to make it fun for the girls. We stayed one night at Circus Circus and enjoyed the circus acts and Adventuredome. The room in the main tower was clean and adequate, if somewhat noisy. We then stayed at Luxor for four nights. We enjoyed the Egyptian theme. Our first night was spent in a room in the pyramid itself, and we had a spectacular view of the lightning storm! Subsequent nights were spent in the East Tower in a really nice room. The pool was beautiful. We enjoyed the second level attractions (the museum, the motion simulator ride, etc.) Architecturally, this is the most interesting hotel in Las Vegas. We had the opportunity to visit Freemont Street on two evenings and enjoyed the light shows, especially the country western show. We also spent one evening walking from Luxor to Treasure Island. We were able to see the pirate battle, the talking statues at Caesar's Forum Shops, the exploding volcano, the Bellagio water show, and a singing gondolier at the Venetian! Overall the meals were good everywhere: The Pyramid Cafe in Luxor; The Sherwood Forest Cafe and Round Table Buffet in Excalibur; and the burger joint in New York New York. (We didn't appreciate the cheese whiz on the nachos at Treasure Island's Lookout Cafe!)We attended the Rick Thomas Magic Show at the Tropicana and all enjoyed it immensely. This was our third visit to Las Vegas in the last two years. We have found it to be a holiday destination of good value. The Internet room rates were exceptional and the numerous free shows and activities kept our family busy and happy. It was a magical week of holiday!
