$36,000 In Prizes To Be Awarded To Local Music Programs
Bring the family on Saturday, March 19, to enjoy music by local middle school and high school groups as they compete for cash prizes for their schools' music programs in the "Notes to Grow" contest. Kevin Janison from KSNV-TV 3 and Melissa Torres of 102.7 FM The Coyote radio station will emcee the event, to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside at Justice Myron E. Leavitt Middle School, located at 4701 Quadrel St. Admission is free. Las Vegas Ward 4 City Councilman Stavros S. Anthony will award the proud winners of the competition their share of $36,000 in prize money
graciously sponsored by the Las Vegas area Walmart and Sam's Club stores. Refreshments will be sold by a local community group. City of Las Vegas staff will provide coordination and technical support.
“We are inviting area residents to join the city of Las Vegas, Walmart, Sam’s Club and our other community partners in supporting our youth involved in school music programs,” said Councilman Anthony. “Come out on Saturday to hear these fine young musicians perform at Leavitt Middle School.”
Local middle school and high school musical groups submitted applications and performance video for the contest for online evaluation and public voting. The four middle school and four high school groups receiving the most votes were invited to perform on Saturday. Bring blankets or low folding chairs to be more comfortable during the event.
The event is presented in partnership with Walmart, Beasley Broadcasting, GGB Broadcasting, the Clark County School District School-Community Partnership Program and the city of Las Vegas. Call 229-2524 or visit http://bbgilv.com/hsnotes/jump.html online for more information.
