LAS VEGAS- August 3, 2012- Tito Puente Jr. is the son of the late, great Latin music legend Tito Puente, who won seven Grammy Awards, released 158 albums, and performed thousands of shows over the course of his career, which spanned half a century. Now carrying on the family legacy, Tito Puente Jr. is bringing his fathers music back to life.
Tito Jr. and his band tour across the country, keeping the celebrated music alive. Regarding his recent touring, Tito says, “I’m loving every minute of it.” He and his band have become favorites at casinos and art venues across the country. They have also been known for giving back by traveling overseas to perform for troops in places such as Korea, Japan, Spain, and Italy, and performing on Jerry Lewis’ MD Telethon.
In addition to performing his fathers music, Tito also has his own contemporary Latin music which will be featured on his new album, In My Fathers Shoes, due to drop sometime next year.
Critics rave that Tito Puente Jr. breezes through his fathers hits, leading his 11-piece band through songs such as “Oy Como Va,” “I Like It Like That,” and “Macarena.” Tito Jr. explains, “He was just too vibrant, too exciting. There was magic in the music my father made. It made people happy, all over the world. My goal is to keep it alive, and in doing so, expose it to a whole new generation."
