Rock and Pop to the Sweet Music of The 1910 Fruitgum Company at Eastside Cannery
LAS VEGAS – July 22, 2009 – The New Jersey pop band, The 1910 Fruitgum Company, who rose to fame in the late ‘60s will play at the Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22. The performance takes place each night at 8 p.m. at Marilyn’s Lounge inside Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets are $5 (including tax and fees), available for purchase at the front desk prior to the show.
Taking their name from a candy wrapper that the group’s guitarist, Frank Jeckell, found in an attic, The 1910 Fruitgum Co. formed in 1965 with their first single “Simon Says,” which charted #4 on the U.S. Billboard charts in 1968. Two more chart topping singles, “1, 2, 3, Red Light” and “Indian Giver” quickly followed.
Most recently performing on the Bubble Gum Rock Special, The 1910 Fruitgum Co. has a wide fan-base including the punk rock band The Ramones, who covered “Indian Giver” in 1987 and cites the group as heavily influential on their music. Since their formation over 40 years ago, The 1910 Fruitgum Co. continues to honor the tradition of popular music.
