Details

Knock Out Artists on Inaugural Card January 23rd

Las Vegas, Nev. - Fight Night at the Plaza Hotel & Casino is back with Undefeated, World-Ranked, Cruiser-Weight BJ Flores, 21-0-1 with 13KOs on Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 at 7 p.m. inside the Plaza Ballroom. Flores is ranked #2 in the world by the IBF. Flores is fighting World Title Challenger Elvin Ayala, with a record of 18-3-1 with 8KOs in the headline bout, the first professional boxing match at the Plaza in four years.

Presented by the Plaza, Rattlesnake Events, Let's Get in On Promotions and TKO BOXING Promotions, "Friday Night Fights" ticket prices are just $24.50, $59.50 and $99.50. For tickets and more information, see the Plaza or Vegas Club Players Clubs or call (702) 386-2634.

The Plaza ballroom will seat 1,571 fans for the boxing event, boasts a great view from all seats, and offers a much more intimate atmosphere than what you typically see at a similar event held on the Las Vegas Strip.

"We are excited to be bringing world-class boxing back to downtown and back to the Plaza, where it had been a popular attraction for locals and visitors," said Tony Bender, vice president of marketing for the Plaza Hotel & Casino. "We see it as something different to bring more people downtown and to help promote local fighters. And, we're pleased to offer such great ticket prices, making it affordable for everyone. We look forward to a long working relationship with Rattlesnake Events and their team and continuing to stage boxing events on a regular basis."

In a special feature attraction, Undefeated Welter-Weight Prospect Bayan Jargal, 9-0-1 with 6KOs, will make his Las Vegas debut in a six round bout. The undercard features Nevada brothers Derek and Tyler Hinkey in four round bouts. Super Middle-Weight Derek sports a record of 6-1-0 with 6KOs while Tyler brings a record of 4-0-1 with 3KOs into battle.

Pro fighter and Trainer Jacob Chavez, president of Rattlesnake Events, along with Partner Francine Schlaks are thrilled about bringing fights back to the Plaza. Said Chavez, "We used to watch boxing events at the Plaza years ago, and this upcoming fight brings back great memories of those fights and the fun in downtown as a whole."

Rounding out "Friday Fight Nights" at the Plaza are prospects Junior Light-Weight Lonnie Smith (5-2-2 with 4KOs) of Las Vegas and Fairfield, Calif. Welter-Weight prospect Gabriel Del Real (1-0 with 1KO), who will be appearing in separate bouts.

A special autograph and photo session with all the boxers is being held Saturday, January 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. near the First Street stage down on Fremont Street. In addition there will be an open workout on Wednesday, January 21 at 1 p.m. in the Plaza ballroom; and the weigh-in will take place on Thursday, January 22 at 5 p.m. inside the Plaza's DOME Ultra Sports Lounge, both of which the public is welcome to attend.
