Downtown Henderson landmark to celebrate Golden Anniversary on July 1

Henderson, Nev—On July 1, 1962, Sam and Bill Boyd opened the Eldorado Casino, marking the first joint venture of the legendary father-son team, and the beginning of what would become Boyd Gaming, one of the most respected companies in the gaming industry.

“My dad and I never imagined what our company would become when we opened on Water Street 50 years ago,” said Bill Boyd, Executive Chairman of Boyd Gaming.  “We have come a long way, but we’ve never forgotten what we started at the Eldorado – a business dedicated to treating people right.”

On Sunday, July 1 at 3 p.m., Mr. Boyd will attend the official 50th anniversary celebration at the Eldorado – open to the public – featuring a champagne toast, cake and special anniversary giveaways.

In celebration of the anniversary, the downtown Henderson landmark put in circulation commemorative, limited edition $5 gaming chips and will continue the following promotions throughout 2012:

- In the property’s bingo hall, any customer winning a game on “G-50” will receive a $50 cash bonus.
- In a throwback to the prices of 1962, the snack bars at both the Eldorado and Jokers Wild will offer a variety of 50-cent specials throughout the year, including shrimp cocktails, hot dogs, hot wings, soft drinks, draft beer and coffee.
