LAS VEGAS - August 12, 2011 - Summer is coming to an end and it’s getting a FREE concert sendoff highlighting several popular acts from the 60s and 70s on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 4 p.m.

The 9th Annual End of Summer Bash brings together great music, great food, vendors and lots of classic cars! Members of The Mustang & Classic Ford Club of Las Vegas along with the Las Vegas Cruising Association will park several hundred of

their classic and restored cars on Aerojet Way. The first 200 drivers who enter will receive a free t-shirt.

 

Tickets to the concert are free and available to the public while supplies last at the Cannery Casino & Hotel’s front desk.

The musical lineup includes The Cowsills, The Rip Chords, The Del Vikings and The Tokens.

The Cowsills were the real life inspiration for the hit television series “The Partridge Family.” The group was one of the biggest pop acts in the 1960’s known for its angelic harmony and the hits “The Rain, The Park and Other Things,” “Hair,” “Indian Lake” and the television theme song “Love American Style.

The Rip Chords are best known for their 1964 hit “Hey Little Cobra” which sold one million copies. The group’s other chart singles included “Three Window Coupe,” “Here I Stand” and “Red Hot Roadster.” Many consider The Rip Chords as the epitome of the sun-soaked ‘California Sound.”

The Del Vikings formed their partnership at a Pittsburgh Air Force Case and soon after scored two big hits including “Come Go With Me,” “Whispering Bells” and later “Sunday Kind Of Love.

The Tokens are best known for their 1961 #1 hit “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.” Adapted from a Zulu folk song, it has sold 15 million copies through the world. The National Endowment for the Arts and the Record Industry Association of America placed “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” at #159 in the 365 Top Records of all time.

Although the End of Summer Bash does signal an end of the season, the music and entertainment continues at The Cannery Casino:
