Details

Donation will help make this season’s holidays brighter for 21,000 Nevada children in need

LAS VEGAS - November 24, 2009 – The Walmart Foundation presented the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation with a donation of $20,000 at the annual Fill the Fire Truck Toy Drive luncheon. The funds will be used to buy toys and gift cards for children served by 38 charities supported by the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation.

“The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation and their members do a tremendous job in serving their communities through the professional and charitable work,” Candace Vandervarrt, Regional Compliance Manager of Walmart in Nevada, said. “The Walmart Foundation is very pleased to be able to support their efforts to make the holidays memorable for thousands of children in Southern Nevada.”

"The Burn Foundation is grateful to have a partnership with Walmart and the Walmart Foundation for over the last six years,” said Anthony “Nino” Galloway, President of the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation. “We have partnered to provide much needed joy and support to the Las Vegas community. Through the annual toy drive and the more recent back to school events we are assisting those who truly rely on our assistance; while maintaining hope for those who believe in the Burn Foundation mission of Our Family Helping Yours.”
In addition to this $20,000 donation and an earlier $7,250 contribution, the Walmart Foundation has also donated 20 pallets of toys to the organization. These donations will help 21,000 Nevada children in need this holiday season.
