SAHARA HOTEL & CASINO ANNOUNCES RICK THOMAS TO JOIN LONG LINE OF ILLUSTRIOUS PERFORMERS

Fresh off his World Tour, Vegas' Most Versatile Master of Illusion will Continue to Dazzle Strip Audiences... let's just say, the Tigers are Back!

Las Vegas, NV - Rick Thomas, along with his beautiful white tigers, who has been delighting Las Vegas audiences and wowing critics for over a decade, announced that he is returning to the Strip at the end of his World Tour and will begin performing nightly at the Sahara Theatre starting July 16, 2009. Thomas' unique style of magic and captivating stage presence has earned him many honors including "Illusionist of the Year" by the Theatre Excellence Awards, "Stage Magician of the Year" by the World Magic Awards and magic's highest honor, "Magician of the Year" by the Academy of Magical Arts.

The Sahara Theatre has been host to some of the greatest performers of all time and Thomas, who became a professional magician when he was only 13, certainly qualifies to stand in the spotlight alongside Sahara legends such as The Beatles, Liberace, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Judy Garland, Louis Prima, and many others. The Sahara is dedicated to making entertainment history, now as ever before, by pairing with the iconic and wildly popular magic man.

"Rick Thomas is going to be a great addition to the Sahara," said Bill Tremper, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for the Sahara. "The Sahara was built on an incredible history of entertainment with headliners like the Rat Pack and Elvis. Rick Thomas is a renowned Las Vegas Strip Iconic performer and a crowd pleaser that national audiences will be talking about for years to come."

Rick Thomas is best known for reinventing the modern magic show with a stage presence that is unmatched, even in a city of world-class magicians. He is the epitome of tall, dark and handsome and moves across the stage with grace as he fuses his illusions with elements of dance, performance art and the appearance (and disappearance) of a family of white Bengal tigers. "Tigers have been missing on the Las Vegas strip for some time," says Thomas, and he is thrilled to "reintroduce these beautiful animals to our great city." As a teenager Thomas was named a National Ballroom Dance Champion, which accounts for his moves on stage and the spectacular choreography of his lovely assistants as they overwhelm the laws of physics with seemingly impossible feats.

The show is set to open July 16 with performances Tuesday through Sunday at 7 p.m. and additional 4 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are priced at a reasonable $39.95 for adults and $19.95 for children under 12. VIP seating is available for $49.95.

WHO WILL WIN THE POLICE VS FIREFIGHTERS FATHER'S DAY BURRITO EATING CONTEST FOR CHARITY AT SAHARA'S NASCAR CAFE?

The Public is Encouraged to Come Cheer On and Support Those Who Protect Our Community June 20 at Noon

Las Vegas, Nev. - The Sahara Hotel & Casino's NASCAR Cafe is hosting an eating contest of enormous proportions between local police and firefighters to benefit two fantastic charities on Saturday, June 20 at noon. Team members from both the Las Vegas Police Protective Association (to benefit the non-profit organization LVPPA Metro Charities, Inc.) and the Henderson Firefighter's Benevolent Association (a non-profit organization) will compete to finish the NASCAR Cafe's new B3 "Big, Badass Burrito," a monumental six pound concoction, which is two-feet in length and is smothered with guacamole, sour cream and melted cheese. This burrito is so big, so spectacular, it's made national news.

Each battling side will consist of three pairs made up of officers or firefighters and their fathers, children or mentees. The teams of two will have 45 minutes to decimate as much of their burritos as possible; and the long standing friendly rivalry between the two branches of the emergency services ensures that the competition will not be taken lightly by either side.
The heroic eaters will compete for first, second and third place prizes. Then the total remaining weight of each side's burritos will be added to find the overall winning side. The winning side will receive a trophy, winner's T-Shirts and the ultimate bragging rights while the losers will be made to wear pink "Certified Weenie" T-Shirts and be photographed in front of the restaurant's "Weenie Wall of Shame."

Fifteen percent of all food and beverage purchased at the NASCAR Cafe the day of the event and on Father's Day will be equally divided between both charities. In addition, all proceeds from a silent auction of Father's Day-themed gift baskets will also benefit both charities. Among many other great items, event sponsors Meghie's Ski, Bike & Board and the Las Vegas 51's will feature auction items of Las Vegas 51's family 4-packs and a bike enthusiast's dream goodie bag.

The public is encouraged to come out and cheer for the heroes who protect and serve our community. The NASCAR Cafe is featuring several incredible food and drink specials the day of the event. In addition, all police officers and firefighters who attend to cheer for their team and show ID will receive a free well beer the day of the event.

"We've done fundraisers like golf tournaments in the past to benefit our association that were hugely successful," said Captain Bill Rotroff, chairman of the Henderson Firefighter's Benevolent Association. "We're excited to participate in a unique and fun event that our members and their families will love, and that our brotherhood of firefighters and the community as a whole would enjoy and appreciate."

"The LVPPA is excited to participate in this wonderful fundraising event. The LVPPA Metro Charities, Inc. is a newly organized charity that focuses on taking care of the families, especially children, of fallen officers. This is our first fundraising event and we are excited to team with the Sahara Hotel and Casino and the firefighters in an event that will not only benefit both charity organizations, but also the community as well," states Chris Collins, Chairman of the LVPPA Metro Charities, Inc.

The Las Vegas Police Protective Association Metro, Inc. (LVPPA) was incorporated in 1947 to support law enforcement officers and represents its members through contract negotiations, processing grievances, and legal representations. The Association represents over 2500 rank and file Police and Corrections Officers that are employed by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and Marshals employed by the City of Las Vegas. The LVPPA is participating in the eating contest to benefit the LVPPA Metro Charities, Inc.

The LVPPA Metro Charities, Inc. is a nonprofit organization recently created as a charity organization that will focus on providing benefits to fallen officers and their families. The organization received the IRS 501(c)(3) designation in early of 2009. This designation allows an organization's donors to receive a tax deduction. The organization will primarily focus on providing benefits to the families, especially children, of officers who are killed in the line of duty such as the recent tragedy with Officer James Manor.

The Henderson Firefighter's Benevolent Association is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2006. Its primary objective and purpose is to provide charitable assistance to its members, disabled and retired personnel, along with their dependents and their survivors as needed. Further, the Association provides charitable assistance to the public who also demonstrates needs.
