Details

Enjoy Healthy Lifestyle Activities At City Of Las Vegas Dula Gymnasium
Las Vegas residents age 50 and older are invited to celebrate National Active Aging Week Sept. 25-Oct. 1 by participating in the free “Expand Your Experience Downtown Walk.” Sponsored by the city of Las Vegas, the walk will begin at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the entrance to the Neon Museum Boneyard, located at 810 Las Vegas Blvd. North (at McWilliams Street between Las Vegas Boulevard North and Encanto Drive). Free parking will be available at 749 Veterans Memorial Drive (one block west of Las Vegas Boulevard at Sycamore Lane).
Participants will check in and walk up to two miles, passing through the city’s Cultural Corridor of museums, historic landmarks, parks and community centers to Fremont Street. Individuals may choose their own walking distance, finding a variety of free healthy activities and snacks at the end at the Dula Gymnasium at 441 E. Bonanza Road. Health-related information, door prizes and “Laughing Yoga” and Zumba demonstrations will be presented at Dula Gymnasium.
“Staying active through the years keeps us healthier and makes life more enjoyable,” said Ward 5 Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow. “Now is the time for us to optimize our opportunities for good health and quality of life. We on the City Council encourage all our residents to take advantage of every chance to get up off the couches and chairs, get out, be active, have fun together and explore what our city has to offer.”
