Details

LAS VEGAS On Friday, Nov. 16, join Rain in the Desert at the Palms Casino Resort for a very special music showcase-an evening with Macy Gray. This evening combines the best in Vegas nightlife-lights, sounds, special effects and magical moments-and begins at 7 p.m. with a cocktail reception and an 8:30 p.m. show time. And as with all of the live shows at Rain in the Desert, the party continues long after the live entertainment with inspired deejays, dancing and creative cocktails. Tickets are $100 each and go on sale through TicketMaster (702.474.4000 or www.ticketmaster.com) at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20.

With multiple levels and environments comprising 25,000 square feet, Rain in the Desert's extraordinary design and special effects, and a variety of luxurious private areas, represents the ultimate contemporary nightclub and concert venue. Located on the casino level of the Palms Casino Resort, Rain's entrance tunnel of gold-mirrored mosaic with color changing lights, fog and sound hints at the energy level inside. The entrance is flanked by an elevated seating and staging area with private bar accommodating up to 75 guests. Waterwall effects (with or without video integration), live-feed and real-time broadcasting enhance the Rain experience.

Lavish special effects throughout the club include intelligent lighting and electrifying play of water, fog and pyrotechnics. A state-of-the-art lighting rig contains the computerized intelligent lighting system, as well as fog, haze, 16-foot fire plumes and three-foot fireballs. Independent, 20-foot truss mechanisms are capable of traversing the room at incredible speeds. The bamboo dance floor is surrounded by a computer-programmed river of water with multiple features including dancing jets and fountains.

Luxury private and VIP environments include a cabana level encompassing seven private cabanas, each accommodating 8-12 guests, and a large bar offering a breathtaking view of the Las Vegas strip. Each cabana features LCDs, color-changing lights, mini-bars, and specialty furniture.

High above the cabana level, six sky boxes on the mezzanine/VIP level boast private balconies overlooking the nightclub below. Each features lavish furnishings and custom environmental controls. Each box accommodates 12-20 guests, and can be combined with other boxes, up to and including the entire mezzanine area for 120 guests. The mezzanine/VIP level is accessed by private elevator; members gain access via a biometric thumbprint scanner.

In the main club, eight sensuous "water booths," available by reservation, feature patent leather banquettes filled with water. A separate VIP lounge, with plush furniture and private bar, accommodates receptions for up to 50 guests.

Catering to guests' appetites, food service from The Grill, Rain's private kitchen, will be available for private events and in all seating areas throughout Rain (sky boxes, cabanas, VIP lounge and water booths). Appetizers and sharing foods include shrimp cocktail; smoked salmon canapés; crabcakes; tenderloin skewers with dipping sauce; full oyster and caviar menus.

Rain's specialty beverage program features ultra-premium bottle service, sake selection, premium sipping tequilas, tête de cuvée champagnes, premium waters, and a specialty drink program including a variety of custom martinis.

Rain's VIP concierge and six bars cater to guests needs. Rain can accommodate private events up to 1,500 guests. A limited number of private memberships will be available; cover charges will vary based on entertainment.

Rain in the Desert will be open Thursday-Sunday 9 p.m. - 5 a.m.
