CELEBRATE THE JOY OF WINE WITH THE RETURN OF LA JOIE DU VIN, ANDRE’S RESTAURANT & LOUNGE WINE DINNER SERIES

LAS VEGAS (May 2013) – Andre’s Restaurant & Lounge at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino announce the return of popular wine dinner series, La Joie du Vin. The first event of the series will be held Friday, June 7 with a welcome reception at 6:30 p.m followed by dinner service at 7 p.m. For this special dinner, Chef de Cuisine Chris Bulen will create an impressive five-course menu featuring rhubarb, a vegetable commonly found in tarts and pies.

The dining experience will begin with two exquisite appetizers.  To start, Skookum Oysters featuring rhubarb granite and caviar paired with a bubbly Nicholas Feuillate Brut. The appetizer course continues with a dish of fresh rhubarb, cucumber, kumquat, Crater Lake blue cheese and toasted pistachios served alongside 2011 Antinori Vermentino from Tuscany, brimming with a floral aroma and citric notes.

The main course will include a delectable Rhubarb Glazed Iberico de Bellota Pork Cheek with celery root purée and heirloom carrots, complemented by 2010 Erath Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Ore., known for its sweet flavors and hint of smokiness; Mary’s Free Range Pan Seared Duck Breast served with pickled rhubarb, cornbread stuffing, Swiss chard and rhubarb duck jus paired with 2009 Spring Valley Vineyards “Uriah” Walla Walla, a complex Merlot full of fresh strawberry and raspberry flavors.

Veering away from traditional rhubarb desserts, Pastry Chef Tammy Alana presents a Strawberry Rhubarb Linzertorte, a lattice topped pastry filled with fresh strawberry and rhubarb and a lemon verbena crème fraîche ice cream. The rich, decadent Château Ste. Michelle Ethos Late Harvest Riesling adds a refreshing finish to the meal.

Tickets are limited for this decadent dinner and are priced at $125. DockDogs to Hold Western Regional Championships in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – May 2, 2013 – The DockDogs Western Regional Championships will be held in Las Vegas at The Cannery Hotel and Casino on Friday, May 31 through Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Over 300 of the top teams in the Western Region will be facing off in more than 15 divisions of completion, including Outdoor Big Air, Extreme Vertical and Speed Retrieve. The Big Air® competition electronically judges the length of a dog’s jump after running down a 40’ dock into a pool of water after an object. The Extreme Vertical® competition is a “High Jump” for the dogs as they each lunge to snag a “bumper” suspended in the air. With each grab, the height increases in 2-inch increments until only one dog is crowned king. Rounding out the action is the newest form of competition known as Speed Retrieve® – where the dogs are put on the clock to see how fast they can run down the dock, jump into the water, swim to the end of the pool and retrieve an object which is held by a modified extender arm.

"We are very excited to be having the first of the four 2013 DockDogs Regional Championships at such an incredible venue”, commented Grant Reeves CEO for DockDogs Worldwide. “The Regional Championships is important for DockDogs competitors that are looking to earn invitations to the World Championships that will be held in Dubuque, IA in November. The competitors on the west coast have been battling each other the entire first quarter of this new year and we expect nothing short of 3 long days filled with massive Big Air jumps, sonic Speed Retrieve runs and High Flying Extreme Vertical jumps.”

This 3-day event will be a great time for the entire family. There is a “splash zone” around the edge of the pools for kids to cool off from the summer heat from the splashes from the Big Air jumping dogs!

DockDogs is the independent governing and sanctioning body for dock jumping and dock diving canine performance sports.

Tickets for Friday and Saturday are $5.00 per day, and Sunday tickets are $7.00 and will be available at the door. A weekend pass that includes admission to all events for all 3 days is $15.00.
