Legendary Entertainer Bill Cosby Returns to Treasure Island July 19

Las Vegas— Iconic funny man Bill Cosby, who has been making audiences laugh for decades with his keen insight into everyday existence, brings his signature comedy back to the Treasure Island Theatre July 19 at 8 p.m.

Cosby has earned respect from critics and adoration from fans for his uncanny ability to connect with people through humor and providing insight into the role of parents, children, family members, men and women. A testament to his status in the world of comedy, Cosby has earned eight Grammy Awards.

Known the world over for “The Cosby Show,” which ran from 1984 to 1992 on NBC, Cosby broke racial barriers and sent a powerful message to viewers – the family unit and raising children matters most. The No. 1 rated sitcom earned six Emmy Awards, three Golden Globes and 10 People’s Choice Awards. Among Cosby’s other titles are “Time Flies,” “Love and Marriage” and most recently, “I Didn’t Ask to be Born: (But I’m Glad I Was).”

A champion of youth, Cosby’s dedication to helping children realize their potential is evidenced through his Emmy Award-winning “Little Bill” animated series, which aired on Nickelodeon and CBS. His other television and film credits include “Obkb,” “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids,” “The Cosby Mysteries,” “Man and Boy” and “Uptown Saturday Night.”

Few entertainers have achieved the legendary status of Cosby, who emerged from humble beginnings in a Philadelphia housing project. After returning from the Navy, Cosby went on to earn a degree at Temple University and later a master’s and doctorate in Education from the University of Massachusetts. His lifelong contributions to American culture were recognized with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1998, the Presidential Medal of Freedom in July 2002, and the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2009.

80’s Rock Band LOVERBOY will be “Working for the Weekend” at Cannery

LAS VEGAS – May 31, 2013 – Bandanas, fast cars and loud music – LOVERBOY will bring their trademark red leather pants and classic high-energy 80’s hits to Cannery Casino for a one-night concert on Saturday, June 29, 2013.

In 1980, LOVERBOY burst onto the music scene with their self-titled debut album. They quickly became one of America's and MTV's most popular rock bands, selling more than 10 million albums throughout their musical career. From 1980 through 1987 LOVERBOY garnered four multi-Platinum albums and numerous international Gold albums. Their tours sold out arenas and stadiums nationwide. Their hit singles include the anthem “Working for the Weekend” and arena rock staples such as “Lovin’ Every Minute of It,” “This Could Be the Night,” “Hot Girls in Love,” “Heaven In Your Eyes,” “Turn Me Loose,” “When It’s Over,” and “Queen of the Broken Hearts.” Their music has come to define an entire generation of rock-concert fans.

“I look at our concerts as a 100-minute experience,” says guitarist Paul Dean, who still claims to be able to fit into the same pair of red leather pants he wore on the “Queen of the Broken Hearts” video in 1983. “I’m a normal guy up until 10 minutes before we hit the stage. Then the heart rate goes up and I consciously step into the bubble. And I don’t come out of it until 30 seconds after that last cymbal smash and I walk off-stage. It’s a great stress release, better than riding a Harley.”

“When we do live shows these days, I notice the songs have come to a better place,” says lead singer Mike Reno. “We’re playing them a little differently, but the catalyst is still the same. We love these songs—they’re part of our DNA, and they’re part of a lot of people’s DNA.”

Tickets start at $14.95 and can be purchased 24 hours a day at www.cannerycasino.com or by calling the Cannery box office at (702) 507-5757.

The Cannery Casino is located at 2121 E. Craig Road (Two blocks west of I-15) in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
