Free Young Men’s Conference At West Las Vegas Arts Center Jan. 30

Young men ages 10 to 25 are invited to register for the free Young Men’s Conference 2010, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. With the support of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, the West Las Vegas Library and the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy, 100 young men ages 10 to 16 will gather to create new bonds of friendship through dynamic dialogues on leadership, community and brotherhood. Men ages 17 to 25 will be offered the tools and skills necessary to effectively pursue, gain and maintain social and economic independence. A variety of career tradesmen will speak to this older group, followed by an opportunity for one-on-one networking and questions. Call (702) 229-4800 to register, or for more information. Free Business Seminars Offered To Local Business Owners (adults)

This one-hour seminar will focus on effective marketing, branding and networking strategies. Sponsored by the city of Las Vegas Office of Business Development, in conjunction with the Adam Hodson CPA firm, the free seminar is limited to 40 people. Advance registration is required. Scottish Country Dancing (ages 13+)

Cosponsored by Southern Nevada Old-Time Contra Dancers, the National Folk Organization, and the city of Las Vegas. This class is not suitable for younger children unless they have previous dance experience. Scottish Country Dancing is the beautiful “ballroom” dance of Scotland. The dances may be lively and joyful or gentle and graceful. From the first chord to the final bow, dancers are inspired by the driving reels, jaunty jigs, snappy strathspeys or lilting slow airs. And thanks to the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, any dancer can be welcomed by a local group almost anywhere in the world.
