LAS VEGAS SENIOR IDOL TALENT SHOWCASE OCT. 9

Details

Talented, mature performers ages 50 and older will entertain the audience in the 5th annual city of Las Vegas Senior Idol Talent Showcase Thursday, Oct. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, located at 800 S. Brush St. Senior singers, dancers, comedians and other performers auditioned in August for the opportunity to be part of the show. Tickets for this family show are priced at $3 in advance and $5 at the door. Advance tickets are on sale at all city of Las Vegas active adult and senior centers. Doors will open at 3 p.m.

“We have 20 acts this year — solo singers, tapping teachers, comedians, jazz dancers, line dancers, a Jimmy Durante impressionist — and our rapping granny is returning,” said Las Vegas Senior Center Coordinator Lettie Peters. “Half of the performers are new to the show, half of the acts have participated in past years. Last year more than 300 people enjoyed the fabulous show. This year we are hoping to sell out the theatre, so even more folks can see what these impressive seniors can do. Las Vegas has so many talented older adults and retired professional performers who like to show their abilities. The performers and the audience always have a wonderful time at this annual show.”

The Las Vegas Senior Center, a facility of the city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services, sponsors and coordinates the annual show. The center offers a variety of fitness, wellness, educational, social, crafts, music, fine arts, dance and sports classes, activities and events. A current schedule of active adult and senior activities is available at the center and online at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/information/5166.htm. The Las Vegas Senior Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, call the Las Vegas Senior Center at (702) 229-6454.
