Senior Juried Fine Art Competition Winners Announced
The winners of the Celebrating Life! 2012 juried fine art competition will be on display at the Charleston Heights Arts Center through July 11. Additional entries may be viewed in the Salon de Refusés, located inside the gallery at Charleston Heights Art Center, through June 20. Admission is free. Center hours are Wednesday through Friday, 12:30 to 9 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at 800 S. Brush St. Award-winning pieces from the 2012 Celebrating Life! exhibit will travel to the City Hall Chamber Gallery to be displayed July 26-Sept. 6, 2012.
This is the 12th year for this popular fine art competition, which is open to all Clark County artists age 50 or older. Sixty-seven artworks were selected for the juried exhibit out of the 231 works entered this year.
At the May 25 ceremony held at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 25 works of art in six media categories were awarded. Each media category was judged and awarded separately, $250 for first place, $150 for second, $100 for third and a plaque for honorable mention. This year’s judges, Bill Leaf, Jim Pink, and Mary Warner, selected Jeffrey Oldham’s piece, “Boys of Summer,” to receive the Best of Show award of $500. Rita Deanin Abbeyand Vicki Richardson were honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards. Nevada Healthcare Partners sponsored a $200 Golden Brush Award this year, selecting the painting “Forgotten” by Joani “Koelsch” Zingale as the winner. Other award winners include:
