Tournament Features Eight American And International Players at Darling Tennis Center
The Amanda & Stacy Darling Memorial Tennis Center will host the First Las Vegas Invitational Tennis Tournament Oct. 26-28. This tournament will feature eight American and international tennis players ranked by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). Among the participants will be Jesse Witten (who excited tennis fans around the world with his brilliant play against Novak Djokovic in this year's U.S. Open), Jan-Michael Gambill (who has been ranked as high as 14 on the ATP Tour and is a former U.S. Davis Cup player), and Ramon Delgado (formerly ranked 52 on the ATP Tour). This event is free to the public, affording an opportunity to see some of the best up-and-coming players on the ATP tour compete in Las Vegas. The tennis center is located at 7901 W. Washington Ave.
The tournament opening rounds will begin on Monday, Oct. 26, at 10 a.m. On Tuesday, the semi-finals begin at 9 a.m. and will consist of two back-to-back matches on the Darling Tennis Center's stadium court. On Wednesday, the singles final begins at 9 a.m. That match will be followed by a special doubles exhibition. Both the semi-finals and finals will be broadcast live internationally, with renowned tennis commentator Barry MacKay doing the play-by-play.
This is the premier event of the Elite Tennis Series (ETS). ETS is an international organization that will regularly showcase exciting and highly competitive professional invitational tennis events.
The Darling Tennis Center, the largest tennis center in the state of Nevada, consists of 23 tennis courts, including one main court with stadium seating for approximately 2,800 spectators. It also offers a small pro shop, locker rooms and office space. The tennis center is part of the 108-acre Charlie Kellogg and Joe Zaher Sports Complex, which includes 11 reservable soccer fields, a walking/jogging track, playground, picnic areas and parking.
