Apply Now For Summer Jobs Working With Children At Safekey Sites, Pools & Camps
The city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services Recreation Division seeks part-time, hourly staff to work at various Safekey sites, community centers and community schools as well as at pools during the upcoming summer season. Community schools and centers provide programming in arts, crafts, life skills preparation, gymnastics, tumbling, music, dance, fitness, exercise, early childhood development, teen events, language education and more. Safekey sites offer before- and after-school supervision, tutoring and structured activities for elementary school students. Lifeguards, swim instructors and activity leaders are needed at summer pools and day camps to work with children of all ages.
Pay rates vary with positions, starting at $8.00 per hour for entry-level jobs and going as high as $14.00 per hour for pool managers, site leads and specialty instructors. Water Safety Instructor courses begin on March 29, May 24, and June 14. Pay scale for a lifeguard is $8.50 to $11.00 per hour, and pay scale for a lifeguard with a Water Safety Instructor Certificate is $11.00 to $13.00 per hour.
Municipal Pool offers American Red Cross Lifeguard Training courses. Classes take place from February to May. The last Lifeguard Training class of the season begins May 10. The final Lifeguard Training Challenge Class offered for the season will be May 29. Call the pool at (702) 229-6309 for details and registration information.
All potential city of Las Vegas employees are required to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening. Applicants under the age of 18 must have both a work permit and permission from their parent or guardian to release the results of the drug test.
