Las Vegas Residents Invited To Celebrations, Luncheons & Activities At City Centers

The city of Las Vegas active adult and senior centers offer exercise, fitness, craft, arts, dance, music and computer classes; cards; games; discussion and social groups; luncheons; outings; sports; and special events Monday through Friday to residents age 50 and better. A listing of classes and activities is published quarterly in the Las Vegas Active Adult, available in the centers and online at www.lasvegasparksandrec.com. All activities are subject to change. Most activities require $2 annual membership to city of Las Vegas Senior Citizen Programs.

Native American Arts Festival Day Trip (ages 50+)
Friday April 2, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Advance registration is required. Space is limited.
Fee: $2 transportation fee.
Derfelt Senior Center, 3343 W. Washington Ave., (702) 229-6601.
Enjoy this annual festival at the Clark County Heritage Museum. Enjoy the cuisine and talents of our local Native-American population. Be prepared for lots of walking. Bring water, good walking shoes and a hat — most of the event is outdoors.

Egg Hunt (ages 50+)
Friday, April 2, 11:30 a.m. Advance registration is required.
Fee: $2; bring a basket.
East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave., (702) 229-1515.

Easter Basket Workshop (ages 50+)
Friday, April 2, 1 p.m. Advance registration required.
Fee: $1. A supply list will be provided at registration.
Doolittle Senior Center, 1930 N. J St., (702) 229-6125.
Have a great day designing, decorating and filling your fabulous basket. See the model basket at the reception desk. Bring your supplies and enjoy your creation.

Hobby Club Expo (ages 50+)
Friday, April 9, 10 a.m.
Free admission for attendees; $2 for food ticket, $10 for a club table.
Lieburn Senior Center, 6230 Garwood Ave., (702) 229-1600.
Learn about the wide variety of hobby clubs in Las Vegas. Clubs who wish to have an exhibition table should register by March 25. Refreshments will be available.

Incredible Edible Egg Luncheon (ages 50+)
Wednesday, April 14, 11:30 a.m. Advance registration required.
Fee:  $5

We celebrate the egg with some wholesome egg dishes, play trivia games and award prizes, too.

Earth Day Celebration & Picnic (ages 50+)
April 22, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Advance registration is required.
Fee: $4
East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave., (702) 229-1515.
Enjoy a cookout, entertainment and planting flowers to take home.

Red Hat Rally (ages 50+)
Friday, April 23, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Advance registration required.
Fee: $10
Las Vegas Senior Center, 451 E. Bonanza Road, (702) 229-6454.
Are you a Red Hat member meeting at a city of Las Vegas Senior Center? Then you are invited to join us! This annual event is a lot of fun for our Red Hat participants! Enjoy live entertainment, displays and a three-course meal! Registration begins March 1.

Cowboy Poetry Luncheon (ages 50+)
Friday, April 23, 11 a.m. Pre-register by April 22. Advance registration required.

Monthly Cook-off (ages 50+)
Wednesday, April 28, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Fee: Free for cooks; $2 all others

Show us your culinary skills with our monthly cook-off. April is National Pecan Month. Make your best recipe using pecans — from dessert to savories we want to taste! Winner will be awarded a prize basket. Registration begins April 1. Advance registration required for cooks.

Spring Time Potluck (ages 50+)
Wednesday, April 28, 12:30 p.m. Advance registration required.
Fee: Bring a dish to share
