From Las Vegas it's just 40 minutes by plane and two and a half hour drive by automobile.
While the name Death Valley is forbidding and gloomy you can find the driest and lowest spot, 280 feet below sea level (84.93 meters), in North America, the hottest in the world along with snow-covered peaks, beautiful sand dunes, rugged canyons and colorful badlands. Death Valley has nearly 400 species of native wildlife and more than 1,000 described plant species ranging from ancient bristlecone pines to ephemeral spring wildflowers.
