NEVADA OPERA THEATRE GUILD presented a beautiful Holiday Celebration luncheon at MAGGIANO’s LITTLE ITALY in the Fashion Show Mall on the Las Vegas Strip. The NEVADA OPERA THEATRE is a successful professional opera company incorporating a fine balance of classic opera, operetta and musical theatre productions.

The event started with a hosted reception while guests mingled and viewed an excellent silent auction.

As guests socialized, Holiday Carols were performed by the NEVADA OPERA THEATRE CHORUS, with Pier Marini, Accompanist.

Dr. Morton J. Hyson welcomed all and introduced Karen Scherer, Chairperson of The Nevada Opera Theatre Guild and Eileen Hayes, Founder and General Director of The Nevada Opera Theatre.

A festive delicious luncheon was then served with a menu that went on and on as each entrée was served family style. During lunch, Master of Ceremonies Denny Weddle introduced Nevada Opera Theatre soloists Dr. Morton J. Hyson, Ben Litvinoff, Ginger Land and Natasha Ramos who performed accompanied by pianist, Marek Rachelski. The Nevada Opera Theatre Chorus also joined in with the singing of holiday carols.

M.C, Denny Weddle stimulated the audience with some humour as he introduced Barbara and Bruce Woollen and spoke about the exciting plans for the Gala New Year’s Eve Celebration that will be held at the Woollen’s 20,000 square foot Estate.

Eileen Hayes thanked and gave Certificates of Recognition to Barbara and Bruce Woollen and Joan Dimmitt for all their support to the Nevada Opera Theatre.

Eileen also acknowledged the many significant supporters and volunteers who made this event possible.

Denny Weddle then conducted a live auction and revealed the winners of the raffle.

Each table had a sponsor and they were: A. Flamingo Glass & Engraving, Linda Cassese, Joan Dimmitt, Eileen Hayes, Dr. Morton & Nicole Hyson, Nevada State Bank, Beverly & Mike Mykisen, Paula Perez, Caryn Wheeler, The Nevada Opera Theatre Divas & Divos, The Nevada Opera Theatre Guild, Denny Weddle & Associates.

The Nevada Opera Theatre’s Guild is a group of hard-working individuals dedicated to promoting and contributing to the Nevada Opera Theatre. In addition to the Holiday Celebration Luncheon, the Guild hosts several events that have become a tradition. They are: The Opera Gala, The International Friendship Luncheon, Meet the Artists Luncheon, Patron Receptions, and Holiday High Tea.

Nevada Opera Theatre held a gala celebration on New Year’s Eve at Bruce and Barbara Lee Woollen’s gorgeous 20,000 square foot Estate.Seeing the fireworks from the vast outdoor patio of the Estate was truly a viewing experience.Elegance and sophistication was the fashion of the gala.

The engaging host and hostess, Bruce and Barbara Woollen greeted guests as they entered the Estate,

as did Eileen Hayes, founder of the Nevada Opera Theatre, and chairperson of the event.

Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception as they mingled and viewed a silent auction and the beautiful decorations that adorned the mansion.

Dinner at stylish tables, bedecked with New Years party favors, was delicious.Piano selections by classical pianist, Rosita Kanes captivated the guests. The Nevada Opera Theatre Chorus also vocalized.

Afterwards, lavishly dressed guests entered the beautiful Premiere Theatre and were seated to enjoy a recital of Act 11 of “Die Fledermaus.” Maestro Pianist, Marek Rachelski was conductor and pianist for The Nevada Opera Theatre Artists and Chorus.

and Maureen Seymour as Adele. Others in cast were: John Wennstrom, Angela Brown, Karen Fallon, Don Frazer, Toni McCann, Evan Rodgers,Virginia Schilpp.

Afterwards, Desserts and Champagne were served in anticipation of the New Year Countdown and viewing of the massive Fireworks from our incredible vantage point.It was quite a display!
