TWO BIG EVENTS, WHAT A NIGHT!

13th ANNUAL CANON CUSTOMER APPRECIATION RECEPTION

By Dr. Adele (Z.Z.) Zorn

The 13th Annual Canon U.S. A. Customer Appreciation Star-Studded Reception was held Thursday, January 12 at the BELLAGIO’s Grand Ballroom. Elegantly dressed guests of the evening event enjoyed fine cuisine, live and silent auctions, musical entertainment and scores of celebrities.

This event, was sponsored by Canon U.S.A. Inc. and produced by John W. Arnos Sr., Canon U.S.A. and Jaki Baskow, Baskow & Associates and benefited the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). NCMEC is a private non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that provides services nationwide for families and professionals in the prevention of abducted, endangered or sexually exploited children. Although this was the 13th Annual Canon Customer Appreciation Reception, Canon has been affiliated with NCMEC for 15 years.

John and Reve’ Walsh, whose son Adam was abducted and murdered, helped pass the Missing Children’s Assistance Act of 1984 which created the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. NCMEC now serves as the national clearinghouse for information on missing children and the prevention of child victimization.

Since 1998, Canon and NCMEC have collaborated to educate the public about the growing issue of child abduction. The Canon4Kids program, a partnership between Canon U.S.A. and NCMEC helps law enforcement quickly disseminate photos and information about missing children, produces PSAs with missing children photos, and educates parents about tips for taking and maintaining updated photos of their children. To date, NCMEC has helped to recover more than 169,840 children, plus educating thousands of parents and children on how to be safe.

The event started with a Celebrity Red Carpet with Magician, Murray Sawchuck introducing and interviewing celebrities.

Guests enjoyed a Cocktail Reception, Silent Auction and Dinner. After dinner, a live auction with auctioneer extraordinaire, Christian Kolbert brought in a large amount of much needed funds.

M.C for the event was Emmy-award winning actor, Bryan Cranston who introduced special guest, John Walsh (America’s Most Wanted), John W. Arnos and Mark Steines (Co-anchor Entertainment Tonight) who spoke about missing and exploited children and the organization’s work and successes.

To help raise awareness of issues related to locating missing children, Canon U.S.A. also sponsored a Celebrity Golf Tournament at TCP in Summerlin the following day to benefit NCMEC. The two day events raised over $400,000.

A PERFORMANCE BY CHICAGO – Monster Cable Event

The same night, after I left the CANON event, I continued on to PARIS Las Vegas to a performance called ‘A Celebration of Real Music’ by the group CHICAGO sponsored by MONSTER CABLE. They were great!

CHICAGO, the rock’n roll band with horns was formed in 1967 when seven college students started playing together in Chicago. 33 albums, 21 top-ten hits and hundreds of accolades later, CHICAGO remains on of the most popular and successful American rock bands of all time. (They will be appearing at LVH (formerly the Hilton) in March).

After the CHICAGO show, I was invited by some A-list friends of mine from California to post -concert parties, The Monster Jam After-Party and another VIP party. There, I had an opportunity to go one-on-one with some of the CHICAGO original group performers. One was with the fabulous Drummer, Tris Imboden.

What a night! Canon party at BELLAGIO started at 6 p.m. and I left the PARIS party at 3:30 a.m. while parties were still going on. Wow! I am exhausted from all these events, but I keep on going, like the Energizer Bunny, to give my readers all this exiting info.
