Eduardo Villa and Demetra George

Demetra George and Eduardo Villa travelled to Las Vegas to be the stars of this memorable event. Demetra lives in Turkey and the U.S. In fact, her devoted husband, Mike travelled from Turkey to be at this event.

Demetra George is one of the most beloved and celebrated artists, both in the U.S. and Europe. Her voice and compelling stage presence have been featured in concerts and operas on NBC, CBS and PBS. Demetra has performed for four U.S. Presidents and numerous world dignitaries. She is a two-time Grammy Nominee. In 2008, Demetra was the first American to perform with the 100 piece Azerbaijan Philharmonic in Baku. Demetra George has performed with over 170 symphony orchestras and boasts a repertoire of more than 20 opera and operetta roles and 18 roles in musical theater.

Demetra is not only magnificent, but extremely beautiful. She excited the audience with her costume changes and audience interaction. In one operatic number she sauntered into the audience as she flirted with men. The audience loved that. Whenever and wherever she performs she always receives a standing ovation, and this evening was no exception.

Eduardo Villa is one of the world’s most sought after versatile tenors and has a very broad repertoire. Eduardo is a regular in title roles of many operas on the stage of the Metropolian Opera. He has also appeared throughout the US and Europe. A native of California, Eduardo began his musical training as a violinist. While studying at Santa Barbara City College he concentrated on musical comedy and later while studying at USC, he began his operatic training.

Eduardo Villa and Company

Eduardo Villa is a very gifted performer. As this concert’s M.C., he had the audience not only enjoying his wonderful voice, but fun and laughter was also his specialty and he kept the audience laughing by doing his shtick.

Despite some difficulties that prevailed for the Nevada Opera Theatre, such as Conductor Frank Fetta becoming ill, and other airline cancel scheduling, all was well taken care of and the performances went on to everyone’s enjoyment.

Conductor, Kosta Popovic capably replaced the ailing Frank Fetta. He has worked as an assistant conductor with the Metropolitan Opera for eleven years and was assistant Chorus Master for six seasons. As a pianist accompanist, Mr. Popovic has performed concerts and recitals in Europe, United States and Canada.

Soloists Dr. Morton Hyson, Sherona McKee, Eric Castro and Lance Taubold have previously performed with the Nevada Opera Theatre (NOT) and have endeared themselves to NOT audiences as they did this evening. The NOT Theatre Chorus added to this wonderful program that presented an acclectic program that consisted of two acts and an intermission. Some were recognizable favorites such as: Un Bel Di from Puccini’s Madama Butterfy, Torreador Song from Bizet’s Carmen and Puccini’s Nessum Dorma. Other favorites were: Funiculi Funicula, The Italian Street Song, O Sole Mio and Love is Where You Find It. All in all, it was a program for all opera audience tastes.
