of Excellence and Señores of
Awards Gala was held at Wynn’s Latour
Ballroom. The magnificent black tie event was co-hosted by
Sandy Peltyn, Fred Keeton, Daren Cashman, Ellie Hirschfeld and Honorary
Chair, Governor Brian Sandoval.

Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree - Nancy Houssels

honored men and women who have contributed their time and effort for the
betterment of the community. An amazing amount of large contributions were
given for education by organizations that were honored and others.

Dr. Adele Zorn with Humanitarian Honoree Wayne Newton and wife Kathleen
benefitted: The UNLV Foundation, College of Southern Nevada,
CAEO at UNLV, Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization, Puerto Rican Association
Scholarship Fund, Nevada State College, Nevada Hospital Association, City
Impact Center, H.E.A.R.T. for children with AUTISM and the Latin Chamber of
Commerce Scholarship Fund.
Gala was amazing from start to finish. A red carpet of distinguished guests
was hosted by Popote Varez
. Lavishly dressed guests at the Cocktail Reception were greeted by
music, fun characters, and a vast and interesting silent auction. Guests
enjoyed mingling and each guest had their picture taken, put in a frame and
given to the guest as a gift.

entered the dining Ballroom they walked down a long red carpet. This red
carpet was actually an elongated red train of a dress worn by a beautiful

arch for the Honoree to walk through. The Honor Guards were amazingly
stalwart, as they stood motionless in a parallel row for quite some time as
each Honoree was presented onstage and made their remarks before walking
through the arched row of the colorful uniformed Honor Guards.

Entertainment was ongoing and excellent by:
Smith, Miss Nevada America who sang “God Bless
America”superbly; Dance acts by Fern
Adair Conservatory of the Arts; Jean Francois, Artist who
in a matter of minutes painted a large portrait of Wayne Newton and, the
‘piece de resistance’ was a magnificent Cirque Du Soleil performance.

chair for this fantastic Gala. Some parts of her definitions are:
A Senora Defined: A Senora is loyal to family
and friends who expects no more from others than she’s willing to give; she
is a woman who is confident in her beliefs, and yet is willing to listen to
what others have to say.
A Senior Defined…A senor is a man we admire, a
man who raises our spirits and never lets us down. He is a man who young men look up to and hope to someday
ceremonies and Dinner, feathered boas, hats and party shakers were provided
to guests by costumed hostesses and the excellent
DJ kept the merriment going as guests were
dancing and having fun with their party favors. Eventually, the fun and glitzy evening that was enjoyed by

Prior to the date of the Gala,
Sandy Peltyn, Fred Keeton, Karen Cashman and Ellie Hirschfeld held
a Pre-Awards Gala Cocktail VIP Press Party to recognize the very important
and deserving honorees. This in
itself was both inspirational and a most festive celebration.
