Nevada Opera Theatre Guild’s “Vintage Vegas” 2015 Honorary Luncheon featured the one and only, Cindy Doumani as Honorary Chairwoman. Held at the lovely new Tropicana’s Havana Room, this was “Vintage Vegas” at its best. The event started as guests were treated to a hosted Champagne Reception, a vast silent auction chaired by Karen Scherer and Janet Ryan, and music provided by Joe Darro and Friends.

A dedication to late Grammy Winner Larry Hart was given by Cindy Dumaini whose emotional feelings reflected on all who felt as she did. Cindy had the Society of Seven perform a Tribute to Larry Hart. First, they sang a beautiful song devoted to Larry, “Bridge Over Troubled Waters.” The Society of Seven then changed costumes to bright jackets to celebrate Larry Hart’s life with happy songs, ala Jersey Boys. Later on Peter Pavone dedicated the sang “Somebody Loves You” to Larry Hart whose family was at the event.

Excited guest bidding and winning the Pythia Sculpture at auction

Pythia Sculpture by Guillaume Guy

Raffles and live auctions brought in a significant monetary amount. Particularly PYTHIA, a Sculpted design by Artist, Guillaum Guy that he donated, and I’ve been told will be the logo for the Nevada Opera Theatre. Heavy bidding for PYTHIA finally was auctioned for $2800.00. Peggy King, (widow of Sonny King, who originally performed with Jimmy Durante) donated pieces of art given to her husband by Frank Sinatra. Anthony Brady as Louis Armstrong cascaded through the audience and made the live auction a very humorous event.
