Wow what a night it was when AFAN (Aid for AIDS of Nevada) 32nd annual Black & White Party was held at DAYLIGHT Beach Club inside Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

Another great costume

The B&W party was themed "Escape to Paradise," and attendees came dressed ready to party for a cause at the biggest 80ís throwback event of the year wearing iconic 80ís clothing, balloon costumes, over-the-top gowns, stilts, and barely-there fashions.

DAYLIGHT Beach Club partygoers enjoyed food and drink from Brio Tuscan Grille, House of Blues, Hamburger Mary's, Slice of Vegas, Libertine Social, Hussong's Cantina, Four Seasons, and Tito's Handmade Vodka.

Silent Auction

Live Auction - Each Item was shown in this frame as bidding was held

There was ongoing great entertainment, Silent Auction (on long tables that held many great items) and interesting Live auctions that were held onstage. Both auctions were quite active and successful.

More happening were that guests received gift bags stuffed with goodies, fun activities such as a touch motion video photo that shows you dancing and copies your movements to your email and so much more.

And, what a joy it was to see friends and old-time buddies from previous B&W parties.

Marco and Joanna from Sunny 106.5 kicked off the evening by introducing performances from East Side Riot and Jacinthe Morearty. Entertainment then continued all thru the night with Hosts Miss Behave and Andrew Ryan. They entertained the crowd and introduced performances from top Strip headliners, including Aussie Heat, Vegas! The Show, Jennifer Romas, Tenors of Rock, Murray The Magician, Kyle Khou from "American Idol", Adore Delano from "RuPaul's Drag Race, Magician David Goldrake and others. In between performances, DJ Axis kept party goers dancing with a live set.

AFAN's Executive Director Antioco Carrillo and Board President Scott Washburn introduced the AFAN Board onstage and thanked them for all they do. Board President Scott Washburn told about a future move for the AFAN destination that will be a benefit to AFAN and will have ĎA PATH TO THE CUREí wall. To start this PATH TO THE CURE WALL matched donations were received at the party when attendees called 512182 on their cell phone to donate.

Balloon Gal and Male Mermaid

Beautiful weather added to the atmosphere of this event that even had a swimming pool to indulge in. Several swam, others sparkled in balloon and mermaid costumes or in as little as one could get away with. Some just sat on the edge of the pool, cooling off and watching the festivities as there was much to see.

That wasnít all! When the B&W Party ended at Daylight Beach there was an after-party at PIRANHA NIGHTCLUB that featured Adore Delano. A free shuttle was offered for B&W attendees.

Dancing Group

The Black & White Party began as a humble gathering of community members in 1986 to collect canned foods for those living with HIV/AIDS in Nevada. Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) was founded in 1984 and is the oldest and largest AIDS service organization in the state of Nevada. 2018 marks AFAN's 34th anniversary of practicing its unyielding commitment to the community by providing unparalleled health expertise, support and advocacy for adults and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in southern Nevada . Over the years, AFAN has created various programs that offer consistent and comprehensive assistance including direct client service programs, food programs, prevention and education programs and community outreach. As part of AFAN's mission, these client service programs assist in enhancing the physical health and psychosocial wellness of the individuals they serve, while promoting dignity and improving the quality of their lives.

Outlandish costumes

Proceeds from the Black& White Party goes directly to benefit AFAN's programs, including on-site HIV testing, nutritional services, medical transportation, education and prevention, housing programs, and mental health services.

Yes, it was a night to remember and look forward to the 33rd B&W Party with the future hope that the Path to the Cure becomes the Cure no longer needed.
