We reviewed numerous resorts for our week long stay in Las Vegas and decided on Bally's as it was rated a "Four Star" resort. If this is the case, the rating scale must be 1 to 20! Upon arriving in our room, the accommodations seemed adequate for the price we were paying, but upon closer inspection the room was horrible. The carpet was filthy, the bedding was worn and had tears, drapery pulls were missing, our "view room" on the 22nd floor was wonderful if you enjoy looking at the parking garage and mechanical equipment on the roof, and the bathroom was a disaster. Peeling paint, broken and/or missing grout, dried shaving cream on the cabinetry from previous occupants, burned toilet seat from a previous occupant (yes, we are smokers), smoke residue covered the ceilings (easily cleanable but the housekeeping staff are extremely lax). Housekeeping completely by-passed our room for 2 days until we called to complain and request clean towels, toilet tissue, etc (no apology offered). The majority of the staff seem to have taken a special course in rudeness. We called the bell captains desk to inquire about limo rental and were given totally incorrect information. Acting on their instructions, we went to the VIP services desk which could not help us since we do not hold a "Players Club Card" at Bally's and we ended up having to run through the hotel to three different locations trying to line up 3 limos and almost missed an extremely important event. There was a "lounge" on the floor in the hotel and we had the audacity to walk in for a quick cup of self-serve coffee. No where on the door or reception desk was there a notice that it was "Members Only". When we approached the coffee urn, a nasty little waiter approached and asked if we were "members". When we responded in the negative, he became quite ugly and condescending. The front desk staff were no better. We decided to visit the Big Kitchen Buffet for breakfast one morning and the mirrors lining the walls up the escalator were absolutely filthy. The food selection was quite limited in comparison to other buffets in the area and even though we were there shortly after the buffet began, the food was either luke-warm or completely cold and tasted quite bland. The waitress was friendly and prompt but this could not make up for the poor quality and taste of the food. The casino was adequate but don't expect to get your drink for about 30 minutes after placing an order with one of the few waitresses who happen by occasionally. Bally's and Park Place advertise that they offer excellent customer service but obviously this is only if you hold one of their "Players Club Cards". We will never return to this hotel or any other Park Place properties.
