I decided to stay at the Palace Station based on the mostly favorable reports from this site. My wife, brother, and I were completely satisfied with our stay and will recommend this hotel to our friends who'll be heading to Sin City in the near future. Originally, I took booked the internet special courtyard rooms @ 10.00 per night! but upgraded to the Tower rooms for 20.00 per night (40 on fri. and sat. night). Our room was on the 9th floor and quite nice. Maid service did a good job and we had no trouble getting a good nights rest after a full day sightseeing, playing slots, ponies, poker, eating, etc.
I'm glad we took a car rental because Palace Station is a long walk to the other strip casinos.
If your a poker player, then you'll be right at home at the Palace Station pkr. room. Games are friendly, mostly 3-6 and 4-8 holdem and omaha hi low split. They have a $1.00 comp for each hour of play (max. $12 per day) which can be redeemed in $5.00 increments to be used towards paying for food and hotel room. They have a hundred grand bad beat which is won once per month on avg. was what I was told by one of the dealers. All the Station casinos are linked to the bad beat; however, each poker room has an in house bad beat too.
Our meals were fine, we ate buffet, cafe, and at the Boiler Room. Lots of food to eat at a good price (Boiler Room was a bit expensive though but worth it).
We checked out around 1:30 a.m. on our last night to avoid the long line ups on check out day.
Now for the good news; did we win? Yes, a couple of jackpots totaling $2,600 (Uncle Sam taxed us @ 30 percent) but we'll get that $$ back too when we file a U.S. tax form this year. Both jackpots were won at Luxor and Binon's.
I was in Poker Heaven and had a lot of fun playing in other card rooms around the city (Sam's Town, Luxor, Mandaly Bay, Binon's, Orleans, Mirage, to name a few).
I bought some futures bets on NHL/NFL/MLB for next years championships, hopefuly, I'll be mailing in my tickets for somemore $$...go Canucks, Eagles, and Bo Sox!!! lol...
The big story this time was some women winning 8 million at one of the strip casinos (first time visitor to boot, good for her, I say)...
So if you planning on checking out the Palace, I say go for it, you'll be satisfied too.
