I will try to follow this up with a more detailed report if I have time:
AIRLINE: Southwest from BWI to Vegas. Uneventful & Inexpensive. Typical Southwest flight. 5 Hours our & 3 1/2 hours back to Baltimore w/a great tail wind!
HOTELS: Westin & Ballys. Westin is a bit off the strip, but not too far to walk. Small Casino & average rooms for Vegas standards. With so many hotel choices in Vegas I would not recommend the Westin. Ballys is a different story. Great location & newly renovated rooms (at least in the North Tower) Factor that in with great prices & Ballys is a decent place to stay if you get a rate under $100.
FOOD: Margaritaville gets two thumbs up. Top of the Strat was very good, but IMO not as good as Alize or Mon Ami & more expensive than both. Cafe St. Louis & the Le Village Buffet were both great @ Paris. The Grand Luxe was delicious as usual @ Venetian.
GAMBLING: Hit $400 on a Wheel of Fortune Machine & won $200 on craps Saturday night @ Paris. Other than that between the Mrs & I we gave back about that much to Sin City. Broke about even.
NYE we started off @ America's Party @ Venetian. That was fun, especially since it was free. It was great to count down the East Coast New Year & see the Apple drop on the Venetian jumotron! Hootie & West Coast Connection gave decent performances. From there we moved to Nine Fine Irishmen @ NYNY. $99 got us open bar from 10PM - 2AM & a private viewing area of the fireworks. We had a great time & they even served complimentary appetizers of many varities. Wow was that one drunken night. Got back to our room about 3:30AM.
Only other night we went to a bar was Friday Night. Last two trips out we went to Ghost Bar. This time we thought we would try Tabu. CAN'T BELIEVE WE MISSED BRITNEY @ GHOST BAR! At any rate, Tabu cannot compete w/Ghost Bar. Drinks are easily as expensive, atmosphere & view is not as good, crowd/management was more pretentious, and there were no celeb sightings. In fact I would say that every bar we have gone to in Vegas (Ghost Bar, RAIN, CURVE, Times Square Bar, Nine Fine Irishmen) was better than Tabu. Only exception may be Coyote Ugly which packs you in like sardines! All that being said though, it's still Vegas & we still had a good time @ Tabu. Booked a VIP table that came with a bottle of vodka & mixers & we had our own gorgeous waitress that came around & mixed our drinks each time our glass emptied!
SHOW: Lord of the Dance. Good show, especially for the money!
All in All another Fantastic Vegas trip! New Year's in Vegas is truly Unbelievable!
