I've been to Vegas many, many times but this is my first trip report. I've enjoyed reading these reports and thought it was time for me to give back. I hope you find it as entertaining and helpful as the ones I've read.

The players: my husband (57), my son (23), and myself (56). My oldest married son (29) joined us mid-week without his wife (she really doesn't like Vegas and couldn't take the time off work, but was kind enough to let him join our family vacation (my husband kept referring to us as the "Griswalds").

We arrived in Las Vegas at the MGM on Saturday morning. My son played Texas Holdum in the new poker room there - very impressive. No tounaments going on, but he won $293 within the first few hours of play. My husband enjoys the race & sports book and this also has been remodeled and is right next to the poker room. I played table games (3-5-7 poker and a little 3 card poker, hitting a few slot machines) until it was time to rent our car from Dollar (within the lobby of MGM) at 4PM. We did eat lunch at Studio Cafe which our son bought as he was the big winner for the afternoon. We then drove to Helendale, California (2 1/2 hour ride from Vegas) to stay overnight and visit with my husband's sister and her husband. Arrived there around 7PM just before dark and had a fabulous dinner (she is a real good cook). The next day the boys all played golf (they live on a golf course) and we had a late lunch/early dinner and left around 5PM to head back to Vegas. It was really beautiful returning to Vegas just as it got dark and the lights were shining (got that wonderful exciting feel in my stomach)!

Checked into the MGM (had the bell captain hold our luggage from Saturday's arrival) We received an offer in the mail for 3 comped nights (4th night had to pay $129) which our casino host arranged for us to have a 2 queen bedroom suite. We requested a roll-a-way also so that when my other son arrived on Wednesday he had his own bed. No extra charges for the roll-a-way and they don't seem to care how many are in the room. Also, received $90 of free play because we stayed at the MGM during the first week of April. Got settled in the room, unpacking, etc. and then went down to the casino where everyone went their own way (my son went to the poker room, husband on the slots and me to the tables). My husband and I gambled for a few hours while my son met up with some friends and partied with them.

We kept the car for one more day, so dropped our son off at the Luxor to play in Texas Holdum Tournament, on our way to Green Valley Ranch as planned (we have never been there and after watching American Casino we wanted to visit). I did say hello to the tall, thin guy with the mustache (I can't remember his name, but I think he is the vice-president). Nice place, but didn't win any money there. Played vido poker and my husband played slots. We ate breakfast at the Original Pancake House but wasn't too impressed. I had the sourdough French toast (which was very good) and my husband had pancakes which were okay. Return back to MGM and did more gambling. I can't remember were we ate dinner (kind of a blur now) but my son was still with his friends who were taking the midnight flight home.

On Tuesday I layed at the pool while my husband and son gambled. That evening we saw Elton John (a very good performance) and then had dinner afterwards at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill. Excellent food and we enjoyed the ambiance.

On Wednesday morning my other son arrived and we went to the buffet for breakfast. Afterwards we went gambling. At 2:30 my younger son and I had spa appointments. He got a massage and I had a facial. Enjoyed MGM's spa however I still think Canyon Ranch Spa at the Venetian is the best. Wednesday evening we took the monorail (which was very enjoyable and resonable) and ate at Moni Ami Gabi at Paris. We had an 8:30 reservation but arrived a half hour early and waited to be seated outside so we could watch and listen to the Bellagio fountains. We had a GREAT meal plus really enjoyed the fountains. We cashed in some Lettuce Entertain You gift certificates for the meal so it only came to $75 for the four of us.

On Thursday we checked out of MGM and into Treasure Island where my husband was invited to a slot tournament. Slot tournaments are the best. You receive 3 free nights, a gift (this time it was a set of 3 William Sonoma mixing bowls), and on Saturday there was an awards banquet that included dinner and entertainment. Your allotted 3 sessions at different machines and the person with the highest points wins $25,000 (of which $15,000 is in cash and $10,000 is in free play). Everyone gets at least $100 in free play and that's where my husband ended up. But we'll keep trying to win the Big One! This night we ate at the Grand Lux at the Venetian. Always enjoy there great food with big portions.

I hit a couple of straight flushes in 3 card poker during the week which kept me going. Also, my sons turned me on to a new game called Crazy 4 which is a lot of fun. However, you can lose big just as well as you can win big. I usually lost my $100 each sitting, but it was fun and entertaining. My husband won a $1,184 jackpot on a nickel machine (just under the $1199 W2 Form mark). He also did pretty good at the races all week winning over $400 on a quinella, etc. We did pretty good gambling brought home some of our money, so that was good. Friday evening we had reservations at Delmonico Steakhouse (another one of our favorites) and we all enjoyed a wonderful meal.

Saturday was our last day. Finished up with the slot tournament. Then at 7PM was the slot tournaments dinner awards banquet. We checked out with our casino host after dinner and was awarded our $100 free play which we got $146 after we played it in a dollar machine. Passing by one of those big slot machines my husband and son decided to put $20 each into it and hit 3 sevens and won $240. Our casino host arranged for a limo to take us to the airport. We flew home on the 11:00PM America West. The airport was jammed packed to our surprise. Who flies home from Las Vegas on a Saturday night? However, we made our flight just in time! Can't wait to go back.
