This is probably my fifth trip to L.V. as well as my third time staying at the Gold Coast. I like the smaller hotel where you can get around anywhere in just a few minutes.
My friend M and I boarded the plane, which was full. Took off right on time and arrive 30 minutes early. I have heard others mention this but this is a first for me. Since we arrived so early, 8:30 A.M., we could not check in yet. We ate at T.G.I. Fridays. Both our meals were just fine, no complaints. Not fine dining, yet satisfying. We played some slots with no wins. We retrieved our bathing suits from the luggage and went to the pool. Now, our weather at home is 40 degrees and rain, so to have 90 degrees and sunshine was exquisite.
Check-in went quickly. No line and got a room on the 4th floor. When we arrived in the room, we quickly called back to the front desk. Now I am not picky by nature, but we were right next to the service elevator which was LOUD. They relocated us to the 2nd floor and all was well with our room.
For the next few days we just relaxed by the pool, played slots and did the "strip crawl". No big wins anywhere. I usually hit a small jackpot or two, but nothing on this trip. M won one jackpot of $200. We played at almost every major casino on the strip: Mandalay Bay, Luxor, MGM, PH, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, NYNY, Flamingo, Harrahs, Mirage and the Venetian, plus the Orleans.
We saw Wayne Brady. What a riot!!! I highly recommend the show. We got our tickets at Tix4Tonight and paid $62.50 each. At first we were seated way to the left of the stage. In a very classy move, Mr. Brady personally invited everyone to gather 'round, closer in and more to the center of the stage. Nice. I saw the Mac King show finally after trying several times. Cute. I was given a coupon at the Harrah's carnival court for a "free" ticket with the purchase of one drink. Works for me!! We also saw the Titanic exhibition. Kind of pulls you down from your Vegas high, but definitely worth seeing. We bought the picture they offer on the "Grand Staircase". I realize it is a gimmick, but I liked the setting and the picture.
The Conservatory at the Bellagio is also one of my "must see" things. As always, it was beautiful. Someday I would love to stay there. The fountain show did not happen during my vist there due to some repairs on the system. Maybe next time.....
We are not into fine dining, so we ate at fast food places and such. We did try La Salsa Cantina this time. I enjoyed it, but again not a 5 star restaurant. Seattle's Best for blueberry muffins for breakfast is about as fancy as I get in the AM.
Our flight home was right on time and our ride picked us up right after we got our luggage off the carousel.
I think the weather was my favorite part of the trip. Every day we were at the pool for a couple of hours. I tanned 5 times before we came out here and I still had to use sunscreen because of burning. It would have been nice to win on the slots, but I am aware of the percentages! Other than that, the trip was wonderful. It helps when the traveling part of the trip goes smoothly. If your plane is delayed going out, it seems to set the tone for the trip and if it is delayed going home, it is your last memory of the trip. I am looking forward to next year when I can return. Keep the trip reports coming.
