Just a quick trip to spend a little time by the Mandalay Bay pool and do a little gambling. I arrived Fri. night, dumped my bags, locked up most of my money and went to the Burger Bar for a bite. After that I decided to play Let It Ride @ Excalibur. Was down $150 in less than 20 minutes, had not won a hand! Next thing I'm dealt is 2 - 4's and a 9 so I think, big woo, I won the 3 card poker bet. The dealer flips another 4 so I'm thinking 3OAK will help me out some, then she flips the 9 for a full house. SWEET! I played awhile longer and actually finished my night up $100.

Sat. a.m. I was up bright and early and at the wave pool when they opened. The water was nice and there was a slight breeze that morning. I stayed out, reading my book and jumping in the water until about 11:00. After I cleaned up I headed to Planet Hollywood for PF Chang's, my hubby doesn't like Chinese and since this was a solo trip I thought I'd take advantage of eating what I wanted. I wanted to go to Sephora for new makeup and there was some makeup artist from Smashbox cosmetics in LA doing makeovers that day. Lucky me, I got picked. He made me gorgeous, which sadly I have not been able to recreate! I'm getting there...... Anyway, that was fun, especially when I found out that a session with him in LA usually costs $2000! We'll call that a WIN even though I spent money on makep (that I actually needed!)

Lost money everywhere I played on Sat. so I decided to go see if there were seats to Tom Jones. D-16 was available so I said SOLD. That really was an excellent show. He is a true entertainer and I'm glad I was able to go. After the show I went to Excalibur for dinner @ the Steakhouse @ Camelot. They had a $25 special, 7 oz NY Strip, baked potato and Caesar salad. For $5 more you could swap for the filet, which I did. I've never had a bad steak @ Camelot. After dinner I went to NYNY for more Let It Ride. I think I was only down a couple of hundred when I crashed that night. Oh, I also got to see Tiger Woods shooting craps @ Mandalay when I went back. Tiger Jam was Sat. night and he and his entourage had a table to themselves that was blocked off w/security guards and velvet ropes. I also saw Andrew Firestone from The Bachelor on Sat. @ Mandalay.

Sun was checkout day but I still spent a few hours @ the pool before I moved to Monte Carlo. Man, Monte Carlo was a let down compared to MB, but since they would only comp the 2 nights, I was thrilled that MB comped my weekend nights. I hadn't stayed @ MC since 2001 and I really don't see staying there again. I had a room on the 29th floor, facing the City Center construction. Can't complain about the noise, it didn't bother me, but the fact that those buildings are so big and block everything is a huge turn off.

Had a sandwich @ MC cafe for lunch, was very good and reasonably priced. After lunch I walked to Bellagio to look around and play some slots. Several hours later I went to NYNY for 3 card poker, then back to the room @ MC to rest awhile. All that sun was catching up with me. Once it got dark I took a cab to Palazzo and played there and the Venetian awhile, then ate @ Grand Lux. It was a nice nght so I decided to walk back to the MC. Wrong shoes for that but I didnt' let it get to me.

Monday's flight was @ noon so I got up and ate @ the Cafe and then ran through the $100 free play I had gotten w/my offer. Cashed it out as $119. Overall I don't think I did too bad once I take out all I paid cash for, I probably lost $400. Being that my rooms were all comped and I flew on a free plane ticket, I don't call that a bad vacation.

Hubby and I are returning together next month. I told him now I'm spoiled and need my daily pool time!
