My wife and I both had business in Minneapolis, so we flew from MSP to Las Vegas on US Air on Wednesday night and back to DFW on Sunday.

Wednesday - Upgraded to first class and then enjoyed a bumpy flight. Landed, got rental and went to check-in at Palms. Arrived about midnight, so we went to the room. We came back down for a drink and a bit of slots. Wife was not doing well on dollars so she went back to bed. I decided to stay for a minute or two. Welllllllll, she called me that next morning about 7 a.m. since I did not make it back to the room. By that time I had been through quite a few beers and my money. I played 3 card and craps at the Palms. Very nice 3 card dealers...fun tables, just no luck. Carps was different. $15 limit and they could care less. Went over to Gold Coast and played Craps and the Texas Hold 'em table game. Lots of fun.

Thursday - Wife called while I was playing the Texas Hold 'em table game. She was ready for breakfast. I stumbled back over to the Palm and got one more round of craps in. Went upstairs and got wife and went to Hash House for meal and sobering up. Hash House was very good. Went back to the Palms and wife goes to pool while I had a business call. The NHL was having an awards ceremony so there were quite a bit of young, well built guys besides me (47 and a bit pudgy) for wife to gawk at. Stayed there till about 2 pm then got in car. Wife wanted to go to the new M Resort to see what it had to offer.

The M Resort is out the strip past everything. Wife had read that they had several specials and a nice pool area. We get there and it is very nice. Go out to the private pool and they let us in. Very nice bartenders and staff. They humor the older folks (us). So we have a few cocktails and decide to go upstairs to enjoy the sunset at the bar looking back toward the strip. It is very nice and has half price martinis with a $10 sushi special. IT was greatness. Total bill was $27 for call martinis and about 11 pieces of fresh sushi. We go downstairs and play (3 card and craps). Great casino and nice staff. After gambling we went to the Italian restaurant. I had the lobster risotto and my wife had the salmon special. Mine was delicious, hers was good. Left very happy that we made the drive out.

Friday - Woke up and went over to the Gold Coast while wife was getting ready. Played craps at a fun table. Parlayed one $1 hardway up to a $100 toke for the dealers. We decided to drive out to Red Rock Casino to see what it had to offer and have breakfast. We are supposed to move over to the Monte Carlo for the rest of the trip. On the way out, we call the M Resort and they say they can probably comp us based on our play yesterday so we reserve a strip view room.

Red Rock breakfast was good. Played one session of craps while my wife continued her walk with the slots. Not as impressed with RR as we were M. Staff was friendly, just not as impressive as the staff we encountered at the M. We go back to the Palm and check out. We have stayed there several times and it has started to go down in quality. Main comment is the rooms in original tower are getting worn and the craps table could care less if you are not large bankroll, even if they are standing dead when you walk up to a $15 table.

Drove out to the M Resort and checked in. Gave us strip view on 12 floor. Room is fantastic. King size bed with plasma tv and a tv in bathroom mirror. Bathroom had large tub that has window overlooking strip. We play quite a bit that night and were pleased with the service. Nice wine is served in the casino for my wife and never experienced a long period between service. We walked into the steak house for dinner and sat outside. Forgot it was windy, oh well. Had the filet and it was disappointing in quality.

Saturday - Had breakfast in the coffee shop. Used our comp dollars for a few bucks off. We had hamburgers (we are on Texas time) and they are good. Very good onion rings. Play 3 card with a nice lady who is on fire, probably winning $4k. Nice to see.

We go out to the regular pool and have a few cocktails. Nice young man strikes up a conversation and says he is waiting on his buddies to go into the private pool for a birthday party. After a few buckets of beer, his buddies show up and they invite us into the pool party. Sure, we will go. Go in and enjoy the sites while we sit next to the pool. Very fun.

That night we go back to the Italian restaurant and I have the lobster risotto while my wife has pizza. Excellent.

Sunday - We have breakfast, play a bit more and check out. They fully comped our rooms. Very nice.
