Chloride is a living ghost town just 4 miles off highway 93 in Northwest AZ 87 miles from Las Vegas. It is the oldest continuously inhabited mining town in Arizona. Once home to 5000 people and over 70 mines, there are now around 300 people living there.
Things to see are gift shops and antique shops.
Petroglyphs, Ancient Indian writings on the rocks.
Lots of photo opportunities, old buildings, old mines and more.
There is also a full service restaurant and Sheps Miners Inn.
Also, located in the hills behind Chloride are the famous Purcell Murals painted by the artist Roy Purcell in 1966. These murals are well worth the mile and a half drive on a rough dirt road.
